SMART Masterclass - Creating a world class rail organisation

 

Organisations and rail professionals need to enhance their multidisciplinary skills and to complement these with risk assessment acumen to achieve higher service performance at reduced costs.

To assist professionals across the sector SMART Infrastructure Facility is holding a one-day masterclass titled ‘Creating a world class rail organisation’.

The program has been developed by SMART’s Director of Rail Logistics, Andrew McCusker, and Associate Professor of Rail Logistics, Dr Mark Ho, who will be joined by Professor Felix Schmid, Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education, in delivering this masterclass.

It is designed for senior executives of rail organisations and related industries in both the private and government sectors who lead their organisations to embrace the future and value keeping up to date with the latest thinking.

 A number of key themes will be covered over the course of the day including:

  • The changing nature of rail service delivery
  • What is higher performance? How is it developed and sustained?
  • Managing capacity constraints
  • Strategic asset management

A long with the above, a number of case studies and relevant examples will be covered.

Upon completion of the masterclass attendees should be able to :

  • Understand the holistic perspective of system management and recognise a whole-system approach in performance enhancement
  • Appreciate the role of infrastructure investment stewardship and the definition of its success
  • Analyse the performance of an organisation against its environment and develop methodologies to lead their organisations to achieve higher performance

This event provides an opportunity to understand some of the major challenges facing the rail sector and provides a great opportunity to network with other professionals who share the same vision and challenges.

The Masterclass will take place on 22nd November  2012 at the Sydney Business School, Gateway Building, 1 Macquarie Place, Circular Quay, Sydney
